Elemental – Walk of Art project will bring permanent and temporary, site specific, contemporary public artworks to an 8 kilometre area of Maidstone’s riverside between Fant and Allington Lock, subject to approval. Elemental will explore how the elements and forces of nature can be used to document a coherent journey of the river and its surrounding environment.

Artists will be encouraged to explore one or more of the five elements or forces of nature appropriate to each commissions site, seeking innovative solutions for utilising the best sustainable options, recycled materials and renewable resources where possible.

The project will provide an imaginative community arts, events and education programme that supports the cultural values of Maidstone and educates for sustainable development through artwork, example, participation and directed learning.
