To mark the launch of Peter Freeman’s Light Elements artwork, the Elemental project hosted Light Fantastic, an alternative ‘lantern making’ workshop for families held at The Exchange in Maidstone on Sunday 3 December 2006.

Community arts organisation RedRaf Arts delivered the workshop, which attracted more than 100 children and parents to create bold and bright lanterns using a variety of recyclable materials to show in a special parade.

The event's main sponsor, Kent County Council's Councillor Jeff Curwood launched the workshop and led the colourful parade accompanied by the sounds of Maidstone samba group 'Bloco Fogo' through the town centre to the riverside.

The event was supported by Kent County Council and the Channel Corridor Partnership.
